Abstract: Biomaterials are ubiquitous and depending on the context, essentially any material can be a biomaterial, be it natural, semi- or fully synthetic. Often, biomaterials are thought to be strictly within the purview of medical applications and treatments in humans, but this restriction need not be so. In this short talk, I will share with you a view of the mosquito and biting arthropod research landscape as seen through the lens of a biomaterialist/tissue engineer with the hope of inspiring unique, interdisciplinary collaborative opportunities.
