Abstract: The journey from a career as a Navy Medical Entomologist to a position with Midland County (Michigan) Mosquito Control is discussed. The varied experiences and skills obtained while in the military were applied to the civilian role. Conversely, the civilian position resulted in extensive experience in day-to-day mosquito control operations. Another new experience associated with the county position is advocacy with various state/federal legislators and agencies.
