Abstract: It has been a busy year for vectors. Dengue virus in the Americas has reached record numbers. Oropouche virus has brought biting midges to center stage. West Nile virus and eastern equine encephalitis cases continue to capture the public’s attention. These headlines only reinforce the importance of the work we do to understand and control vectors threatening public health. This talk will highlight research advances and noteworthy studies from 2024 as they pertain to vector biology and ecology. Relevant literature and reports from online databases will be sifted for material pertinent to a broad audience of vector control professionals. These highlights will emphasize the issues we know, stress what we don’t know, and provide the audience with information they should know.
