Abstract: The Ute Tribe has had a mosquito control program since the 70s. Over the years we fell into the well-known concept of only adulticiding. When i took over as the tribe's mosquito control officer in 2013 i quickly realized that something was not working as intended. It took a few years to make my vision a reality but we have quickly adapted to a Integrated Mosquito Management approach. i developed a program based on surveillance. i have been asked by multiple people including some members of the American Mosquito Control Association "How can we get other tribe's to have some interest in mosquito control?". I believe i can give some insight into how that can be accomplished. As you can tell i have no clue on writing an abstract but i do have a desire to help as many tribe's as possible. i would like to present on how districts, health departments or even organizations like the American Mosquito Control Association in areas where there are reservations can work on building a relationship with the tribe's. Base Everything on Surveillance. Get to know the council or governing individuals of these tribe's. Get access to the tribal lands and do surveillance. Once mosquito numbers and species have been identified, test those vector species. It took time to convince my council to give me an opportunity to help but with the testing of those vectors and positive tests it work. I believe it can work across the country.
