237 - Senecio sterile mosquito hub – optimizing the production process meeting commercial real world requirements

Abstract: In collaboration with Rentokil, Senecio has been releasing sterile mosquitoes in 2024 across Israel for its second year. In parallel for collecting business indicators, the teams deployed ovitraps and adult traps collecting information on the impact of the program on mosquito population at people houses. In this unique program, mosquitoes are manipulated at the adult stage, including sex separation and irradiation, with the support of AI and robotics systems. In the presentation, Senecio shall share its efforts on optimizing rearing and production process to allow the sterile mosquito program transform into a commercial and sustainable business, with a fraction of the typical manpower required and higher production throughputs.
