Abstract: In response to the increasing need for science-based mosquito control, the American Mosquito Control Association (AMCA), funded by the CDC, updated and developed a suite of training resources from 2021 to 2024. These resources aim to enhance the vector control workforce and improve adoption and execution of integrated mosquito management (IMM) programs. The 2021 update to the AMCA’s Best Practices for Integrated Mosquito Management manual included a brand-new look and feel and additional information on managing Culex mosquitoes, expanded surveillance methods, and executing community engagement strategies. In 2022, a supplemental manual was introduced to guide mosquito management during public health emergencies. Then in 2023, a virtual training and certificate program was created that offers 13 modules covering mosquito biology, the principles of IMM, and how to apply the lessons learned. Finally, the AMCA launched a second virtual training program in 2024 designed to help public health professionals plan and prepare for responding to mosquito-driven emergencies. This presentation will highlight these crucial training tools, the journey of creating the national standard for mosquito control training, and how individuals and organizations can best utilize these resources.
