Juan de León was born and raised in the city of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. From a young age, he showed a great interest in nature and science, which led him to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Crop Protection from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus.In 2024, he completed a prestigious two-year internship in the arboviral diseases division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Fort Collins, Colorado. Currently, Juan works as a Junior Entomologist in the Vector Control Unit of Puerto Rico. His work focuses on the control and prevention of diseases transmitted by mosquitoes and other vectors.
