Tobias Koch's primary research objective centers on utilizing phylogenetic, bioinformatic and ecological modeling methods to better understand the ecological fitness of vector-borne viruses. His secondary objective is to couple findings from modeling methods with laboratory experiments to better understand the relationship between biological and ecological fitness of viruses. By better understanding the fitness of viruses under varying conditions we can have better informed prevention and intervention strategies.
