Jamesina (Jamie) J. Scott is the District Manager and Research Director for the Lake County Vector Control District in Lakeport, CA. She holds a Bachelor of Science in the Biological Sciences from the University of California at Irvine and a Ph.D. in Entomology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She is a fully certified Vector Control Technician certification in California and is a Certified Special District Manager (CSDM).
She has more than 35 years of experience in mosquito and vector control, beginning as a summer helper at the Orange County Vector Control District in Garden Grove, CA and working her way up to positions as a lab assistant and vector control technician before beginning graduate studies at Rutgers University. After earning her Ph.D. in entomology, Dr. Scott returned to California where she developed and administered the laboratory program at the newly formed Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District in Lincoln, CA. She has worked as the District Manager and Research Director for the Lake County Vector Control District since 2008.
Dr. Scott has presented her research at regional, national, and international conferences, including the American Mosquito Control Association (AMCA), Society for Vector Ecology (SOVE), Mosquito and Vector Control Association of California (MVCAC), New Jersey Mosquito Control Association (NJMCA), Northeastern Mosquito Control Association (NMCA), Pennsylvania Pest Management Association (PPMA), and the Entomological Society of America (ESA).
Her publications have appeared in The Journal of the American Mosquito Control Association, The Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases, The Journal of Economic Entomology, The Journal of Vector Ecology, The Pan-Pacific Entomologist, Parasites & Vectors, PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, Vector Borne and Zoonotic Diseases, Wing Beats, and in the proceedings of the MVCAC, NJMCA, and NMCA.
