Heather Penton, MPH,
is currently serving as an APHL-CDC Public Health Laboratory Fellow at St. Tammany Parish Mosquito Abatement District in Slidell, Louisiana. Originally from central Iowa, she completed her BSPH from Tulane University in May 2022 and she graduated in December 2023 with an MPH in International Health and Sustainable Development from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, focusing her studies on vector-borne and zoonotic diseases and One Health. Throughout her studies, she worked in mosquito and triatomine laboratories at Tulane University and the New Orleans Mosquito, Termite, and Rodent Control Board, and completed a fellowship through the Tulane ARMHR program in rural Sierra Leone studying how land use may impact human-rodent interactions.
