Brad Tucker is a research specialist who has worked with the Midwest Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Disease at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 2017. In 2002, Brad joined the laboratory of Dr. Wayne Rowley at Iowa State University just as the epidemic of West Nile virus was hitting the central United States. He continued on at Iowa State after Dr. Rowley retired, working with Drs. Ken Platt and Lyric Bartholomay. In addition to spearheading statewide surveillance for mosquitoes and mosquito-borne disease, Brad played a key role in research exploring vector competence of nuisance Aedes species and the role of small mammals in WNV Epizootiology. Prior to joining the MCE-VBD, Brad worked for a private pest control operator in Minnesota.
