Jorge L. Nina Espinosa obtained his master’s in environmental health from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus and bachelor’s degree in biology-biomedical Sciences from Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, Metropolitan Campus. From 2000 – 2018 he worked in the Underground Storage Tanks Control Division and Underground Injection Control Division in the Environmental Quality Board of Puerto Rico. There, he worked on performance/compliance inspections at facilities with underground storage tanks and underground injection systems to evaluate their spill prevention, overfill protection and release detection methods in place to prevent groundwater contamination. He was inspector evaluating deficiencies or violations that may lead to enforcement actions against owners/operators. Since September 2013, he has collaborated with the Vieques Conservation and Historical Trust (VCHT) in surveying the status of old decaying septic systems, which discharge into the nearby creeks and ocean in five densely populated waterfront neighborhoods on north coast of Vieques. Backed by years of expertise in agricultural and biosystems engineering and quality management, Mr. Nina Espinosa excels with the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board and Department of Natural and Environmental Resources since 2019. The Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico awarded him the Database Security and Secure Operations Certificate Scholarship in May 2020. In May 2021 he was included in Marquis Who’s Who in the World and Marquis Who’s Who in America 74th edition. In 2022 he was included in Strathmore’s Who’s Who.
