RESEARCH AND PROFESSONAL EXPERIENCE: Teaching: seminars in medical entomology and ecology at the Zoological Institute of the University of Heidelberg, supervisor of PhD thesis in entomology (e.g. medical entomology) and applied field research.
PROFESSIONAL POSITIONS: From 1981 until end of 2020 Scientific Director of the German Mosquito Control Association (KABS).
From 1989 until today Scientififc Director of the GFS/Institute for Dipterology, a daughter Association to KABS, which is responsible for research issues focussing on biology of mosquitoes and their environmentally friendly control. The development of environmentally safe methods and techniques for mosquito control in the frame of internal cooperation is a major goal of the GFS.
Professor at the University of Heidelberg since 2008 until today. Teaching medical entomology and ecology (Limnology).
Member of the Steering Committee (SC) for Biology and Control of Vectors (BCV) of the World Health Organization (WHO/TDR) in Geneva from 1989-1994. Since 1995 consultant of the WHO/TDR for Applied Field Research, extensive vector related consultation as a member of the SC for BCV, WHO/TDR in Asia, Africa and South America.
