My doctoral research focuses on human host preference in the mosquito Aedes aegypti. I am leveraging microbiology and metagenomics to understand how odor plumes that are attractive or repulsive are generated. I am also seeking to identify the olfactory co-receptors that these mosquitoes use to find a preferred human host. My long-term goal is to provide the mosquito research community with foundational knowledge on which to develop a next-generation, longer-lasting, probiotic mosquito repellent.
